About Global Canada
An independent briefing site tracking Canada’s international relations — built for readers who want credible, structured analysis without the noise.
Our mission
Canada’s international engagements are increasingly consequential — and increasingly underreported. Global Canada exists to close that gap: to provide structured, accessible analysis for readers who want to understand what Canada is doing in the world and why it matters.
We cover six themes — security, trade, migration, development, environment, and the Arctic — because Canada’s global role does not fit neatly into any one domain. The goal is not to advocate. It is to explain.
Who it’s for
Policymakers, journalists, students, NGO staff, and engaged Canadians who follow international affairs and want a reliable starting point — briefings that respect their time and their intelligence.
Editorial principles
Independent. No government funding and no institutional affiliation that creates editorial obligations.
Non-partisan. Analysis across party lines; the same standard of critique applies equally to all governments.
Transparent. Sources cited, methods explained, and errors corrected promptly.
Accessible. No jargon without explanation; written for engaged non-specialists.
